Cambridge Technology Inc. Announces Price-Performance Breakthrough in Self-Tuned Digital Servos for Scanning Laser ApplicationsDual-Axis Digital Servo Brings High Performance Technology to Low Cost Applications
Lexington, MA and San Jose, CA, January 23, 2007– Cambridge Technology, Inc., the market leader in galvanometer-based optical scanning technology, today announced another innovation in Self-tuned State Space Servos for high-speed scanning applications. The DC2000 Dual-Axis Digital Servo Driver is the newest member of the highly successful Self-tuned Digital State Space servo family at Cambridge Technology. The DC2000 utilizes a patented model-based algorithm to achieve galvo speeds far beyond what can be achieved with conventional analog PID servos. "Our laser marking customers have achieved marking speeds two to four times faster than their analog PID servos.” Said Redmond P. Aylward, President of Cambridge Technology, Inc. “The DC2000 is completely self-tuned without requiring a host computer which has simplified our customer’s manufacturing and service costs”. The DC2000’s direct digital command interface simplifies system integration while back-channel feedback allows the user to digitally monitor servo status in real time to immediately alert the user if a threshold is exceeded. The DC2000 remote support capability allows system interrogation via the internet to immediately provide support from any support center to even the most remote of system installations. DC2000s are designed to drive the complete range of Cambridge Technology 62xx galvos supporting apertures from 3mm to >30mm. Changing the DC2000 from one galvo/mirror size to any other is accomplished by simply downloading the appropriate galvo model, which then invokes the self-tuning algorithm. No pots, no scopes, no hardware changes.
